Benjamin Guerrero holds dual academic roles as an Instructor in the School of Music at James Madison University (JMU) and an Assistant Professor of Music at Eastern Mennonite University (EMU). His expertise spans music education, technology integration, and audio engineering, with a focus on innovative teaching methods and the cognitive aspects of music performance.
Benjamin earned a Bachelor’s in Drum Set Performance and Contemporary Writing & Production from Berklee College of Music, followed by a Master’s in Music Technology from New York University. His research explores online professional development for music educators, music technology in pedagogy, and the perception of groove in popular music.
His research interests emphasize bridging technology and music education through tools like GUI design for audio mixing, intuitive input technologies, and analyzing music cognition. He has presented widely at conferences including the National Association for Music Education National Conference, College Music Society National Conference, and International Society for Music Education World Conference.
Benjamin’s advising and grants sections remain inactive, though he actively contributes to music education through teaching at middle/high schools and community colleges. He is also a PhD candidate at the Eastman School of Music, Eastman’s Music Teaching and Learning department, investigating emerging trends in music education technology.
