Benjamin Gess is a Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Bielefeld University, and leads the Max Planck Research Group "Stochastic analysis in the Sciences" (SAiS) at Bielefeld University and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS Leipzig). His research focuses on stochastic partial differential equations (SPDEs), nonlinear PDEs, fluid dynamics, and machine learning, with an emphasis on conservative SPDEs. He is principal investigator for the ERC Consolidator Grant "FluCo", studying fluctuations in continuum systems and conservative SPDEs.
- Editorial Roles: Section Editor, Associate Editor, and Editor for journals including Stochastic Processes and their Applications, SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, and Springer's Mathematics of Data book series.
- Key Collaborations: Involvement in DFG-funded projects like CRC 1283 and IRTG 2235, focusing on randomness, low regularity, and singular systems.
His work combines methods from singular SPDEs, nonlinear PDEs, and stochastic dynamical systems, aiming to uncover universal properties in systems with randomness and irregularity.
