معرفی
Benjamin Elie is a Research Associate at the University of Edinburgh, working on the ERC-funded PlanArt project led by Prof. Alice Turk. His research focuses on computational modeling of speech articulation using advanced theories like General Tau theory and optimal control. Previously, he contributed to acoustic and articulatory models at French institutions such as LORIA and LISN, and specialized in musical acoustics during his PhD at LAUM and postdoc at ENSTA-Paris. His work bridges speech production, signal processing, and biomechanics, with applications in speech synthesis and instrument design.
Education:
- PhD in Acoustics, Université du Maine, France
- Master's in Acoustics/Signal Processing/Music, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris
Research Interests: Speech articulatory planning, acoustic-to-articulatory inversion, trill consonant modeling, and computational tools for instrument design. His recent work emphasizes context-dependent articulatory targets and MRI-based speech analysis.
Publications Trends: Over 15 peer-reviewed articles since 2012, with a focus on articulatory modeling (2017-2023), musical instrument acoustics (2012-2014), and signal processing innovations like compressed sensing for MRI (2016-2017). Recent ERC-funded work explores General Tau theory applications in speech motor control.
Grants & Labs: Principal researcher on PlanArt (ERC Starting Grant). Collaborator with MULTISPEECH and TLP teams. Developed MAESSTRO software for piano soundboard design.
Labs/Teams: Current affiliation with School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. Past affiliations include LORIA (Nancy), LISN (Orsay), and LAUM (Le Mans).
