Benjamin Dow serves as a Professor in the Department of Accounting, Economics, & Finance at the College of Business, Southeast Missouri State University, where he has taught since 2004. His instructional focus spans Corporate Finance, Investments, and International Finance courses within the business school curriculum.
His academic credentials include a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University, an MBA from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, and a PhD in Finance from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Prior industry experience encompasses mechanical engineering at Colt Industries (1993-1994) and consulting at Energy Management Services (1994-1999).
Dr. Dow's research centers on Corporate Finance, International Finance, and Risk Management, with particular emphasis on foreign currency risk mitigation strategies. His teaching philosophy prioritizes blending theoretical frameworks with practical applications while integrating technological innovations to prepare students for corporate finance careers. He emphasizes real-world skill development through experiential learning approaches.
His publication record demonstrates consistent focus on international financial instruments, particularly currency risk hedging mechanisms using derivatives. The 2017 work on FX swaps exemplifies his applied research in transactional risk management within global markets.
