Benjamin Daßler

Dr. Benjamin Daßler is a post-doctoral researcher and principal investigator at the Chair for Global Governance and Public Policy, Geschwister-Scholl-Institute for Political Science, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich. His work focuses on international regime complexity, contestation of international organizations, and institutional change during power transitions. Since April 2024, he leads the DFG-funded project 'The Politics of Contender Institutions (POLCON)', which analyzes regime complexes across policy areas and time.

Research Interests: Benjamin's research integrates qualitative case studies, network analyses, experimental methods, and quantitative regression to study institutional contestation, power equilibrium in international organizations, and policy area competition. His work often examines how global crises (e.g., financial shifts, pandemics) reshape institutional hierarchies.

Project Leadership: POLCON (2024–2027) explores cross-policy interactions in regime complexes, with open-access publications available on its homepage. Prior work includes studies on tax avoidance/intellectual property regime dynamics (JIRD, 2022), legitimacy in institutional contestation (GlobCon, 2022), and U.S. hegemonic decline (Palgrave Macmillan, 2021).
