Dr Benjamin Bland is a Research Fellow in the Department of History at the University of Reading, holding a Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship (2022-2025). His work focuses on fascist studies, Holocaust memory, and cultural constructs of political ideologies in 20th-century Britain. He employs interdisciplinary methods analyzing films, music, political pamphlets, and governmental records.
Research interests include the intersection of fascism with racial identity, post-war neo-fascist movements, and the role of popular culture in ideological transmission. He critiques traditional historiographies through decolonial frameworks, engaging with underrepresented fields like Holocaust representation and transnational political connections.
Publications explore British National Front transnational networks, Holocaust inversion in neo-fascist rhetoric, and media narratives around race in 1970s England. His 2018 book chapter examines punk zine culture's relationship with industrial music subcultures.
