Prof. Benito Yard is a Professor at Heidelberg University's Mannheim Medical Faculty and Head of the Nephrology Laboratory at Mannheim University Hospital. His research focuses on the role of the innate immune system in resolving inflammation in chronic inflammatory diseases such as vasculitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and atherosclerosis. He investigates how resolution signals from the innate immune system interact with the endothelium and adaptive immune system to regulate inflammation, using both in vitro and in vivo models. His work also explores novel compounds to counteract inflammation, with applications in nephrology and vascular biology.
Prof. Yard's research integrates leukocyte and vascular biology to understand tissue homeostasis, particularly in kidney-related pathologies.
