Benedikt Helgason

PD Dr. Benedikt Helgason is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, ETH Zürich. He works at the Institute for Biomechanics (Laboratory for Orthopaedic Technology), focusing on computational modeling of bone mechanics and medical device innovation.

His research spans:

Key collaborations include the AGES-Reykjavik study cohort for aging research and experimental validation of finite element models using high-speed x-ray techniques. His team develops validated, non-linear explicit FE models for screw-bone interactions and explores bioresorbable magnesium-fiber reinforced bone cements.
