Ben Screech is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Gloucestershire, where he has worked since 2017. He teaches English modules on the BEd program and leads research methods modules at the postgraduate level as course leader for the PgCert in Research Methods. With a PhD in 'Reading Otherness in British Fiction for Young People' (University of the West of England, 2018), his work bridges education and literary studies.

His research focuses on the intersection of children's literature and critical global issues like climate change. He recently completed a three-year ERASMUS+ project collaborating with educators in Italy, Romania, and Lithuania to develop a curriculum integrating disciplinary literacy and social-emotional learning for literacy-disadvantaged settings. In 2023, he conducted research at the International Youth Library in Munich on environmental trauma in YA literature.
