معرفی
Professor Ben J Maughan is a faculty member at the School of Physics, University of Bristol. His research focuses on galaxy clusters, the largest gravitationally bound structures in the universe, using X-ray observations to study their hot gas properties and mass determination. His work has significant implications for understanding dark matter, dark energy, and cosmological parameters.
His research projects include Probing feedback in galaxy clusters with Euclid and eROSITA (2024-2027), and active participation in collaborations like the XXL Survey and CHEX-MATE (Cluster HEritage project with XMM-Newton). He utilizes data from major observatories including Chandra, XMM-Newton, and NIKA2 to analyze scaling relations, pressure profiles, and mass estimation techniques.
Key research areas include galaxy cluster thermodynamics, hydrostatic mass measurement, intracluster medium analysis, and multi-wavelength studies. His publications demonstrate expertise in X-ray astronomy, SZ effect observations, and cosmological constraints from cluster population studies. Current activities involve membership in the XXL collaboration since 2010 and contributions to the Euclid mission's astrophysical research components.
