Dr. Ben Crossey is a Lecturer (Education) in the School of Psychology at Queen's University Belfast (QUB), where he has been a member of staff since October 2020. He holds a BSc in Psychology and MSc in Neuroimaging from Bangor University, followed by an MRes in Computational Neuroscience & Cognitive Robotics and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Birmingham. His professional credentials include Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) status and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He is an active member of the European Society of Psychology Learning and Teaching (ESPLAT).
His teaching responsibilities at QUB encompass undergraduate modules such as Foundations in Psychology, Psychological Methods, and BSc Thesis Supervision, alongside postgraduate courses like Foundations in Critical Thinking and Introduction to Computational Methods. He also serves as a Student Engagement Officer and Personal Tutor.
Research interests span statistical analysis, personality psychology, social psychology, and psychobiology. His work explores topics like deindividuation, group dynamics, and interpersonal coordination. Recent studies investigate the psychological effects of movement synchrony on affiliation and how dark triad traits influence group assessment preferences.
Dr. Crossey has presented invited talks on joint action mechanisms and maintains an active publication record in peer-reviewed journals like PLoS ONE and Frontiers in Psychology. His research often intersects computational methods with social and cognitive processes.
Awards include FHEA (2020) and CPsychol (2020). He has supervised numerous BSc theses and contributed to collaborative projects on shared information processing in group settings.
