Begoña Velasco Arranz

Dr. Begoña Velasco Arranz is a Professor at the Department of Spanish, Modern and Classical Philology at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where she has held this position since 2023. She teaches German language courses at the Faculty of Tourism and serves as a German Coordinator for university entrance exams (PAU). Her academic career includes previous roles as Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and German for Tourism Professor at UIB and the Felipe Moreno University School in Palma.

• Licenciada in German Philology, University of Valladolid

Her research focuses on language didactics and educational technology applications in language teaching, particularly German as a foreign language for specific purposes like tourism. She has led teaching innovation projects such as 'Application of the Internet in German Learning' (2008) and 'Elaboration and Development of a German MOOC for Tourism' (2019). Currently, she co-leads the IRIE-funded project 'AI Applications in Language Teaching for Specific Purposes' (2024).

She has contributed to publications on language teaching and participated in national and international conferences. Active in academic governance, she is a member of the Faculty Board. Her teaching spans German language (I–IV) for Hotel Management and Tourism degrees, including final-year project supervision.
