Begoña García Malaxechebarría

Begoña García Malaxechebarría is a fourth-year Ph.D. student and Research Assistant at the Institute for Foundations of Data Science (IFDS) within the Department of Mathematics at the University of Washington.

Her research focuses on the mathematical foundations and optimization of machine learning, with emphasis on stochastic algorithms for large-scale data science problems. She applies techniques from convex/non-smooth analysis, high-dimensional probability, and statistics.

In her recent work on The High Line, she developed a framework for analyzing stochastic adaptive learning rate algorithms using deterministic ODEs. Earlier publications explore geometric lattices and Banach lattice theory.
