Becky Young is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). Her expertise lies in Soil and Water Sciences with a focus on Soil Science. She holds a B.S. in Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (2009), an M.S. in Natural Resource Science (2011), and a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Science (Soil Science specialization) (2015), all from UNL.
Her teaching and research interests include innovative teaching methods, soil geomorphology, landscape changes, and the development of educational tools. She has been recognized with the Charles E. Bessey Award for Natural Science (2013) and the Holling Family Early Achievement Faculty Award (2022).
Key research contributions span soil structure analysis, pedological mapping, and educational methodologies in soil judging competitions. Her work emphasizes collaborative learning and adapting teaching strategies for remote and field-based environments.
