Dr. Becky Trenz is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Program Director for the MS Psychology Program at Mercy University's School of Social and Behavioral Sciences. With 14 years of academic experience and over 20 years of teaching expertise, she specializes in psychology statistics, research methods, and developmental psychology across both in-person and online modalities.
- Co-Investigator for HRSA-funded Maternal Mental Health Research Training Center (MMH-RTC)
- Co-Activity Director for STEM Ready grant (U.S. Department of Education HSI Title III)
- Co-Investigator on NIH/NIDA R25 award for addiction science pathways
Her research spans three primary domains:
- Maternal mental health among mothers with young children
- Substance use and risk behavior among vulnerable populations
- Social media use and identity development among emerging adults
She actively mentors graduate students through her research lab and directed research courses, currently overseeing 3 MMH-RTC Student Scholars while supporting 15 students across psychology and occupational therapy programs. Recent publications focus on social media impacts, maternal health outcomes, and behavioral interventions for at-risk populations.
