Becky L. DiBiasio is an Associate Professor of English at Assumption College, part of the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in English from Purdue University, with a dissertation on literary fairy tale traditions, and has studied abroad at the Université de Grenoble. Her teaching spans courses in media analysis, Gothic literature, fantasy narratives, and film studies. She has also led interdisciplinary courses like Tagaste: Making the Media and Senior Seminars on community radio/writing and mass communications.
Her research focuses on Gothic and supernatural literature, Victorian fantasy, and the intersection of film and literature. Notable publications include analyses of ghost stories in British literature and silent film adaptations of fantastical narratives. DiBiasio has presented at conferences such as the British Society for Eighteenth Century Studies (Oxford, 2008) and the International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts (2004).
She has received grants for research on Victorian illustrated periodicals and curriculum development in medieval narratives and media courses. DiBiasio’s professional affiliations include the American Society for Eighteenth Century Studies and the Edith Wharton Society. Beyond academia, she contributed to the Audio Journal, a non-profit service for the blind, and earned a Volunteer Award (2001).
