Becky Bate is a Senior Teaching Fellow at Aston Business School (College of Business and Social Sciences, Aston University). She serves as Programme Director for the BSc Accounting and Finance and co-Learning and Teaching Director for the Accounting department. A qualified Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), she transitioned to academia in 2005 after professional experience in accounting practice and industry.
Education qualifications include a PG Cert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2017) and an MSc ACCA professional qualification (2005). Professional memberships include the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and ACCA.
Research focuses on post-qualitative methodologies, posthumanism in education, creative pedagogies, and neurodiversity-inclusive teaching practices. Current doctoral research explores multispecies/posthumanism in UK Business School curricula using generative AI and post-qualitative enquiry. Key interests also include ungrading practices and AI integration in assessment.
Awarded the 2023 Newcomer of the Year Award, she has presented widely on topics like AI in education, ungrading, and multi-species pedagogy. Active in professional networks including the BAFA Accounting Education SIG.
