Dr. Beatriz Jorrín is a Post-doctoral Research Assistant in the Rhizosphere Group at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Department of Biology since July 2016. Her work focuses on rhizobia genomics, legume host specificity, and microbiome assembly in plant roots.
Her research involves constructing synthetic microbial communities (SynCom) to simplify microbiome complexity, enabling the study of genetic determinants in microbe-microbe and microbe-plant interactions. Techniques include Differential Fluorescent Markers (DFM), Barcoded-Transposon mutagenesis (BarSeq), and RNA-Seq.
