معرفی
Beatriz Dias, Ph.D., is an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Geographic Medicine. She joined the faculty in 2024 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship in Dr. Michael Shiloh's lab, focusing on host-pathogen interactions. Dr. Dias holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil, a master's in biotechnology in health and investigative medicine, and a doctoral degree in experimental pathology from the Instituto Gonçalo Moniz (Fiocruz Bahia).
Her research interests center on cell biology and immunology, particularly the role of the retromer complex component SNX5 in Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigen presentation and host defense mechanisms. Her work also explores Leishmania parasites' interactions with host cells, including autophagy's role in infection and drug development. Dr. Dias' publications span topics in microbiology, parasitology, and drug discovery, with a focus on infectious diseases and host-pathogen dynamics.
Her research has contributed to understanding mechanisms underlying tuberculosis and leishmaniasis, with an emphasis on cellular pathways and drug efficacy. Outside academia, Dr. Dias enjoys yoga, travel, reading, and watching TV shows.
