Beatriz Alonso-Cortés Fradejas

Beatriz Alonso-Cortés Fradejas serves as a Permanent Professor at the University of León's Faculty of Health Sciences (Ponferrada campus) within the Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy. She was previously affiliated with the SALBIS research group (Health, Well-being, Engineering and Socio-sanitary Sustainability).

She earned her Doctorate from the University of A Coruña in 2015 with the thesis "Programa de intervención fisioterapéutica para la mejora del estrés y la calidad de vida en cuidadores de personas con discapacidad" (Physiotherapy Intervention Program to Improve Stress and Quality of Life in Caregivers of People with Disabilities), supervised by Dr. Ramón González Cabanach and Dr. Jesús Seco Calvo.

Her research spans three core domains:

• Developing health promotion and self-management programs for chronic disease patients, caregivers, and elderly populations
• Functional assessment in athletes and young adults using advanced technologies (isokinetics and thermography)
• Enhancing quality of care and humanization in physiotherapy services

She currently co-directs two doctoral theses: "Autogestión de la salud en enfermos crónicos, o sus cuidadores, con determinantes socio-económicos desfavorables" (University of León) and "Análisis de indicadores de calidad en el ámbito de la fisioterapia hospitalaria" (Catholic University of Murcia). Additionally, she leads an intergenerational physical exercise research project between elderly citizens and University of León students, while collaborating on two external studies: adaptation of the CIBISA scale in physiotherapy (University San Jorge of Zaragoza) and classification variables for athletes with intellectual disabilities (University Pontificia Comillas-Ciempozuelos).

Dr. Alonso-Cortés Fradejas actively participates in the Galician Society of Physiotherapy (SOGAFI) and the Galician Professional College of Physiotherapists, representing the latter in the National Working Group on Quality of Care in Physiotherapy. Since 2022, she has coordinated the "Marcha Nórdica Comunitaria" project under the University of León's Intergenerational Approach Program.
