Beatrix Aukszi is a Professor of Chemistry at Nova Southeastern University's Halmos College of Arts and Sciences. She holds appointments in both the Chemistry Department and Farquhar Honors College, where she actively mentors students and participates in honors programming including Shark Preview events and thesis defenses.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry (2008) and M.S.T. with Chemistry Focus (1998) from Florida Atlantic University, plus dual B.S. and B.A. degrees from Jozsef Attila University Szeged. Prior to joining NSU, she served as General Chemistry Laboratory Coordinator at FAU for six years.
Research interests span
- Organic chemistry with biological applications
- Metal-mediated coupling reactions and bipyridine synthesis
- Phospho-mapping of proteins including mineralocorticoid receptors
- Chemical education pedagogy
- Cardiac aldosterone signaling pathways
Recent publications (2019-2022) demonstrate strong focus on mineralocorticoid receptor pharmacology and organic synthesis methodologies, with recurring themes in cardiac protection mechanisms and bipyridine-based organometallics. Key subfields include GRK-mediated cardioprotection, phospho-mapping techniques, stereoselective synthesis, and educational innovations.
Scientific recognition includes an h-index of 16 and 162 citations according to Pure/PlumX metrics, with consistent research output since 2001.
Mentorship activities include supervising honors theses, guiding conference presentations, and teaching specialized courses like CHEM 2400H/2410H Organic Chemistry and HONR 4990 Independent Study. She previously coordinated general chemistry laboratories at FAU and maintains expertise in educational methodology through her Master of Science in Teaching.
