Prof. Dr. Beate Averhoff is a full Professor at the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Bioenergetics at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where she has held her position since 2006. Her academic career includes a Diplom in Biology (1985) and Dr. rer. nat. in Microbiology (1988) from Georg-August-University Göttingen, followed by postdoctoral research at Yale University and leadership roles at the German Research Center for Biotechnology.

- DNA Transport Systems: Structure/function analysis of DNA transporters in thermophilic bacteria like Thermus thermophilus, including pilus biogenesis and competence regulation.
