Bea Verschraegen

Bea Verschraegen is a Chair professor of Private International Law and Comparative Law at the University of Vienna's Vienna Law Faculty since 1998, and an adjunct professor at the University of Macau since 2012. She has held multiple high-level academic positions including Vice-Rector for International Relations at Pan European University Bratislava (2004–2014), and serves on international advisory boards like CityU Hong Kong's since 2011.

• Founded the Interdisciplinary Association of Private International and Comparative Law (IACPIL) in 2009
• Head of Austrian National Committee of International Academy of Comparative Law since 2008
• Member of ALI Consultative Groups on Restatement of the Law

Her research focuses on Private International Law, Comparative Law, and their intersections with European Law, Civil Law, and Mediation. She has published pioneering works in areas like cross-border divorce agreements, same-sex marriages, and children's rights.
