Bavjola Gami is an Instructor in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Mississippi. She holds a PhD in Literature from the University of Tirana, Albania, with earlier degrees from the same institution. Her research focuses on Albanian and world literature, memory studies, totalitarianism, and rhetorical mechanisms of oppression, with particular attention to literary representations of political regimes and cultural identity.

Her work explores themes such as loss, historical trauma, and the interplay between literature and political systems. Notably, her monograph Essays on the Awareness of Loss in Contemporary Albanian Literature (2024) received an Honorary Mention from the Society for Albanian Studies. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, with a focus on Albanian literature, Eastern European studies, and memory politics.
Dr. Gami has presented at over 47 academic conferences globally and co-edited special issues such as Women's Life Writing in Eastern and Southeastern Europe (2023). Her recent articles analyze poetry and prose addressing communist-era oppression and cultural resilience.
She teaches First-Year Writing courses and contributes to interdisciplinary humanities initiatives at the University of Mississippi.
