Bastian Lange

Bastian Lange, PhD, is a PartTime Lecturer at the Humboldt University of Berlin and founder of the research firm Multiplicities. He has held visiting professorships at the University of Vechta and HU Berlin, and is a Fellow at the Institute for Ecological Economy Research (IÖW).

Research Interests span Urban Studies, Human Geography, and Post-Growth Economics, with a focus on collaborative participation processes, creative economy integration, and sustainable urban-rural development. His work addresses post-pandemic transformations, care/sorge work in peripheries, and innovative governance frameworks.

Recent publications highlight trends in post-growth urban practices, care sector innovations, and creative-industry collaborations. Notable projects include GLAMMONS (post-pandemic GLAMs) and InCAREgio (care sector solutions in weak regions).

Advising & Grants: Lange has advised municipalities and EU programs via Multiplicities and secured grants from BMBF, Horizon 2020, and the German Federal Building Ministry (BBSR). He co-leads the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft ARL Arbeitskreis on regional alternatives to growth.

Labs & Teams: Collaborates with Inpolis Urbanism GmbH, paper planes e.V., and Studio qrfl in projects like Leitlinien für Baukultur. His work bridges academia, policy, and creative industries.
