Bastian Dürr is a Researcher and doctoral student at the Faculty of Political Science within the Chair of Government: Political Economy of China. He is affiliated with the TRANSMARE research group, focusing on maritime economies.

Research Interests center on the European Union’s China policy, Sino-European economic interdependencies, and the Belt and Road Initiative in Central/Western Europe. His work compares foreign trade policies and analyzes the EU’s strategic responses to Chinese trade and investment dynamics.
Bastian’s doctoral project investigates the European Union's political capacity to address challenges from Chinese trade and investment policies. He also contributes to the TRANSMARE research network by coordinating studies on maritime economies. His research integrates policy analysis, comparative political economy, and regional integration studies.
