Dr. Barth Oeseburg is a senior researcher and staff advisor in the Wenckebach Institute for Education and Training at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Medical Sciences. His roles include advising on care for older people and chronic disease management within the UMCG. He holds a PhD from 1961 and has extensive experience in clinical practice, education, and research.
His research focuses on gerontology, nursing, chronic disease management, intellectual disability care, and interprofessional education. Notable projects include systematic reviews on chronic conditions in intellectually disabled children and frail elderly care, as well as studies on quality of life in multiple sclerosis patients. He has authored over 40 publications and received the Best ePoster award at the 2022 European Nursing Conference.
Dr. Oeseburg contributes to educational programs for nursing assistants and care providers, emphasizing competency development in elderly care. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity and quality education.
