Barteld Richard Siebring (1924-2019) was an Emeritus Professor of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), affiliated with the College of Letters & Science and the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. He held academic positions from 1948 to 1991, including roles as Instructor at Worthington Junior College, Assistant Professor at Wisconsin State College at Milwaukee, and Professor of Chemistry at UWM from 1962 until his retirement in 1991. He also served as a visiting professor at the United States Military Academy, West Point, during 1981–1982 and 1988–1990.
Education: He earned a BA from Macalester College (1947), BS and MS from the University of Minnesota (1948–1949), and a PhD from Syracuse University (1953).
Research and Contributions: Siebring authored two major works: Chemistry: A Comprehensive Laboratory Course and Chemistry: A Basic Approach, reflecting his focus on chemistry education. His professional memberships included the American Chemical Society (holding leadership roles in the Milwaukee section), History of Science Society, and Phi Kappa Phi.
Honors: Recognized by Marquis Who's Who as a notable Chemistry educator. Military service: Served in the U.S. Naval Reserve (1944–1946).
