Barry Schein

Barry Schein is a Professor of Linguistics and Philosophy at the University of Southern California, affiliated with the Department of Linguistics and Philosophy. His research focuses on semantics and philosophy of language, with notable contributions to event semantics, plural quantification, and thematic relations. Schein holds a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Selected publications include Event Semantics (2010), Plurals (2006), and Plurals and Events (1993). His work bridges formal semantics and philosophical analysis, addressing topics like reciprocal constructions and syntactic-semantic interfaces. Schein received the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Linguistics at the University of Trieste (2003–2004).
