Dr Barry Blackburn is a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Justice Studies at the School of Law, Policing and Social Sciences, Canterbury Christ Church University. He joined the university in 2013 and has worked in both Forensic Investigation and Applied Criminology teams.
His teaching responsibilities include leading modules on Transnational Crime and Global Markets, Media, Crime and Justice, and Crime, Deviance and Popular Culture, while also serving as Head of Level 4 for Applied Criminology.
- PhD research: Community drug treatment and the impact of the 2010 National Drug Strategy
- Current research: Awareness of hate symbols in the tattoo industry and historic metal theft
- Contributing author to Blackstones Handbook for Student Police Officers since 2016
