Barbra A. Meek is a Professor of Anthropology and Linguistics at the University of Michigan and holds the title of University Diversity and Social Transformation Professor. She is affiliated with the Native American Studies Program, Department of Linguistics, and Department of Anthropology.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Anthropology and Linguistics from the University of Arizona (2001)
Her research examines how linguistic differences are represented and performed in contexts of social inequality, with a focus on Indigenous communities in the Yukon Territory. Collaborative projects involve partnerships with the University of British Columbia, Yukon Department of Education, and Dene First Nations.
