Barbara Zimmermann is a Professor in Applied Ecology at the University of Inland Norway, affiliated with the Faculty of Applied Ecology, Agricultural Sciences and Biotechnology. She leads the LARGE research group focusing on ecology and management of large animals, particularly large carnivores and their impacts on prey species. Her work examines human-wildlife conflicts, climate change effects on wildlife, and GPS-based animal monitoring.
- Current research investigates wolf-ungulate interactions, livestock predation patterns, and boreal ecosystem dynamics.
- Projects include CarniForeGraze, GRENSEVILT, and studies on wildlife response to wind power development.
Recent publications focus on quantifying carnivore predation vs. human harvest, cattle grazing impacts in boreal forests, and technological applications in wildlife monitoring. Her work spans Scandinavian wolf ecology, moose population dynamics, and human-carnivore coexistence.
