Barbara Schneider

Prof. Dr. Barbara Schneider is a Professor of Speech Therapy at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences (WiSo) at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. She leads the Speech Therapy program within the Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, and Physiotherapy (ELP) and contributes to the Master's in Health Services Research and Design (HELPP). Her academic background includes studies in Special Education (University of Dortmund), clinical linguistics (University of Bielefeld, where she also earned her PhD in 2007), and extensive professional experience as a speech therapist and educator.

Research focuses include neurological speech disorders, evidence-based practice, and communicative participation in aphasia. She has led projects such as a national survey on awareness of aphasia and dysarthria among therapy students and collaborated on studies at Bielefeld University’s Movement Lab. Professional roles include heading the Logopädie Lehranstalt at DAA Gesundheit & Soziales and serving on the university’s ethics committee.

Her teaching extends to courses on speech therapy for geriatric care and health services research. She mentors doctoral candidates and contributes to academic conferences, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration in healthcare education.
