Barbara Lynette Jones is a Part-Time Faculty member in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at Wayne State University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She serves as Community Dispute Resolution Specialist and Faculty Instructor, focusing on conflict resolution, restorative justice, and youth-violence prevention. Her work includes directing the Ralph Bunche Summer Institute, which empowers high school youth through civic engagement and peacebuilding.
Education: BSc in Mass Communications (Rochester College), MA in Conflict/Dispute Resolution (Wayne State University), and a Graduate Certificate in Peace and Security Studies (Wayne State University).
Her research emphasizes diversity training, workplace conflict resolution, and community safety strategies. Recent publications explore trauma, social justice, and transformative pedagogies. Barbara actively mentors youth and serves on the WSU Union Part-Time Faculty Bargaining Committee (2016–present). She has collaborated with organizations like the Boggs Center and Detroit Rotary High Schools Interact Club.
Key initiatives include leadership in youth violence prevention, negotiation training, and advocacy for part-time faculty rights.
