Barbara Hilton Arnold is Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Western Carolina University's College of Health and Human Sciences. She holds a BSW from Appalachian State University, MSW (2000), and PhD in Social Work from University of Georgia (2023).
With clinical expertise as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Arnold brings over a decade of experience including roles as clinician and associate director of a college counseling center. Her clinical practice specialized in trauma-informed care using integrative approaches like EMDR.
Arnold's research focuses on trauma-informed practices that honor holistic personhood, incorporating embodiment and somatic frameworks within research methods and pedagogy. She maintains deep ties to western North Carolina's Appalachian region.
