Barbara Fruth

Prof. Barbara Fruth is a Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior (Konstanz) and former Professor of Evolutionary Anthropology at Liverpool John Moores University. She leads the Department for the Ecology of Animal Societies and serves as IMPRS Faculty/Spokesperson. Her research focuses on bonobo socio-ecology, conservation, and medicinal plant use in central African rainforests.

Advising/Grants: Supervises long-term LuiKotale Bonobo Project (since 2001), collaborates with Royal Zoological Society of Antwerp, and secures funding from MPG and international bodies. Funds environmental education programs and sustainable resource use.
