She leads the Local Universe research group and serves as Chief Investigator for ASTRO 3D. Her international roles include co-chairing the SKA HI Galaxy Science Working Group and membership on the IAU Division J steering committee.
- PhD in Astronomy (2005), Cornell University
- M.S. in Astronomy (2002), Cornell University
Her research focuses on cold gas dynamics in galaxies, particularly atomic/molecular gas surveys and their connections to star formation processes. Key projects include the WALLABY and MAUVE galaxy surveys using ASKAP and ESO's VLT.
Recent publications analyze:
- HI emission mapping in edge-on galaxies
- Gas scaling relations in stellar discs
- Machine learning applications for HI detection
Scientific recognition:
- Recipient of The Anne Green Prize (2018)
Active in Australian Research Council funded projects, including Discovery Projects and Future Fellowships. Collaborates with institutions in Korea, Germany, and USA. Currently involves datasets from:
- ASKAP Pilot Survey for WALLABY
- IllustrisTNG galaxy simulations
