Barbara Alemanni serves as an Affiliate Professor of Banking and Insurance at SDA Bocconi School of Management and holds the position of Full Professor of Economics of Financial Intermediaries at the Università di Genova. Previously, she contributed as Faculty member in SDA Bocconi's CEGA and EMBA Master programs (2007-2015) and MBA program (until 2005), later serving as Banking and Insurance Faculty Deputy (2018-2022).
Her academic foundation includes a Business Administration degree from Università Bocconi, an MSc in Finance from City University Business School, and completion of the International Teachers Programme in Aix-en-Provence.
Professor Alemanni's research centers on behavioral finance, examining how psychological factors drive financial decision-making across asset management, alternative investments, and securities market regulation. Her work investigates investor psychology in sustainable finance contexts, cognitive biases in wealth management, and the disruptive impact of fintech on traditional banking paradigms, with recent emphasis on AI-driven consumer behavior and algorithmic trust dynamics.
Her publication portfolio reveals a clear trajectory from foundational behavioral finance principles toward emerging intersections with sustainability and artificial intelligence, demonstrating evolving expertise in ethical investment frameworks and human-AI financial interactions.
Professional recognition includes appointment as Economic Advisor to ESMA, editorial board memberships for Finanza, marketing, produzione, Forum Bancaria, and Economia&Management, alongside her scientific advisory role for MEFOP SpA on behavioral welfare initiatives.
Through extensive consultancy engagements across European and Asian financial markets, she has collaborated with leading banking institutions and public entities on regulatory frameworks and market development strategies, translating academic insights into industry practice while maintaining active governance roles at Università di Genova and Borsa Italiana.
