Balázs Tóth is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Accounting, University of Szeged, affiliated with the Institute of Financial and Economic Analysis. He holds a master’s degree in Finance (2018) from the University of Szeged and is pursuing a PhD focusing on Internal Control Systems in the Public Sector. His research explores the interplay between public sector accounting practices and administrative efficiency, with a focus on institutional reforms, ESG factors in banking stability, and fiscal management challenges.
Key research interests include Public Sector Accounting, Internal Control Systems, ESG metrics in finance, and public debt management. He has contributed to projects like the EFOP-3.6.2-16-2017-00007 initiative exploring social and economic innovation in Hungary. Recent work addresses topics such as capital gains manipulation in football clubs, fiscal distress in Hungarian municipalities, and the impact of zero-interest environments on healthcare funds.
Teaches BSc courses including Introduction to Accounting and Financial Accounting. Awards include the National Higher Education Scholarship. His work bridges academic research with practical policy implications, particularly in Hungary’s public financial governance and municipal restructuring. Active in conferences like the Sopron Financial Days, he emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to financial security and systemic risk mitigation.
