معرفی
Dr. Balakrishnan Munirathinam is the Head of the Research Group at the Institute of Energy and Process Systems Engineering, Technische Universität Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig), Germany. His academic journey includes a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (2017) and postdoctoral research at Delft University of Technology (2017–2020), focusing on electrochemical processing and materials science. His research spans electrocatalysis for biofuel production, corrosion-resistant materials, and nanomaterials for biomedical applications. He has over 15 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals.
Key research areas include: (1) Electrochemical synthesis of biofuels using tailored catalyst surfaces, (2) Corrosion protection of biomedical implants via textured coatings, (3) Interface engineering in microelectronics packaging, and (4) Nanoscale material characterization. His work bridges fundamental electrochemistry with industrial applications in energy and biomedical sectors.
Recent publications (2021–2025) emphasize advancements in laser-structured electrodes for furfural conversion, molecular dynamics studies of catalyst impurities, and in-situ analysis of interfacial ion transport. His foundational 2012–2017 studies established methodologies for synthesizing TiO₂ nanotubes and analyzing Mg alloy corrosion mechanisms.
Munirathinam’s research is supported through projects like ADEM (CO₂ electroconversion) and NWO-TTW (microelectronics packaging corrosion). He has developed novel coatings for titanium implants and pioneered laser-texturing techniques to enhance catalyst performance. His interdisciplinary approach integrates materials synthesis, electrochemical analysis, and computational modeling.
