Bala Natarajan is Professor and Clair N. Palmer & Sara M. Palmer Electrical Engineering Chair at Kansas State University, where he directs the Cyber-Physical Systems and Wireless Innovations (CPSWin) research group. He holds BE (1997) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, PhD (2002) from Colorado State University, and a second PhD in Statistics (2018) from K-State.
His research spans statistical signal processing, stochastic modeling, and optimization with applications to wireless communications, sensor networks, and cyber-physical systems. Current projects include interference modeling for 5G mmWave systems, networked control of stochastic hybrid systems for smart grids, and biomedical signal processing for autism spectrum disorder.
Notable contributions include carrier interferometry OFDM/DFT coding integrated into 3GPP Release 10 standards. He has authored 60+ journal papers and 110+ conference papers, and serves as editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications.
