Baichen Liu is a Research Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research focuses on developing advanced porous electrodes for redox flow batteries through innovative fabrication techniques like non-solvent induced phase separation. He holds a Ph.D. from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and a master’s degree from Zhejiang University (ZJU), where he specialized in Energy & Environment Systems Engineering.
His academic background includes interdisciplinary work on electrode morphology optimization, flow field design, and electrochemical performance analysis. Current projects aim to unlock ultralow-cost iron-air redox flow batteries by engineering three-dimensional electrode microstructures. Key collaborations involve the Electrochemical Materials and Systems group at TU/e, where he explores novel material synthesis and microstructural control for enhanced energy storage systems.
Research interests span electrochemical systems, energy storage technologies, and materials science, with a focus on practical applications in renewable energy. His work bridges computational modeling, experimental material characterization (e.g., X-ray tomography), and engineering design to address challenges in battery efficiency and scalability.
Baichen’s postdoctoral research builds on his Ph.D. studies at DTU, where he investigated carbon-fiber electrode properties using advanced analytical techniques. His visiting scholar experience at TU/e (2022–2023) laid groundwork for his current projects on imprinting flow fields into electrode architectures. Despite prolific publication output, no scientific awards are explicitly mentioned in available texts.
