Bahar Tuncgenc is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University (NTU), affiliated with the University of Oxford's Social Body Lab. Her research focuses on social bonding mechanisms, nonverbal communication through synchronized movements, and their impacts on mental health and well-being. She holds a PhD from the University of Oxford and degrees from Middle East Technical University (Turkey).
Her interdisciplinary work combines developmental, social, cognitive, and evolutionary psychology with anthropology. Key research questions include how synchronized behaviors like dance or imitation foster social connections and how these influence health behaviors.
