Babar Shabbir is a Vice Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellow at RMIT University's School of Science. He holds a PhD in Engineering from the University of Wollongong (2016) and previously served as a research fellow at Monash University. His research focuses on developing advanced radiological sensors for real-time radiation measurements and imaging, leveraging 2D materials, photonics, and machine learning. Shabbir is an Australian-American Fulbright Fellow and actively supervises PhD and Master’s students in areas like X-ray sensing, sodium batteries, and nanomaterials.
His work addresses environmental and health protection through radiation detection innovations. Key research themes include sensor technology, optoelectronics, and sustainable energy materials. Shabbir collaborates on industry projects and has published extensively in journals like Advanced Materials and Nature Communications.
