Babak Eslami is Associate Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Widener University's School of Engineering. His research focuses on the intersection of Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), with emphasis on materials characterization and surface engineering.
Research explores mechanical properties at nanoscale, enhancement of 3D printing technologies, and development of innovative manufacturing processes. Current projects include PA Manufacturing Innovation-funded research to optimize 3D printing of PEEK polymers and NSF-supported work on AFM methodologies.
Educational background includes PhD from George Washington University (2016) and MS from University of Maryland (2012). Professional recognition includes multiple PA Manufacturing Innovation awards and Crystal Trust Grant. Teaches courses in atomic force microscopy and additive manufacturing.
