Babacar THIOYE is a Teacher-Researcher in Agroecology and Crop Systems at the University of Rouen Normandy's Department of Agrobiosciences and Agronomy. His work focuses on mycorrhizal symbiosis, agroforestry, soil microbiology, and bioinformatics-driven soil analysis. He holds a PhD in Plant and Microbial Biotechnologies from UCAD Dakar and the University of the Antilles (2014–2017), and a Master’s in Agroforestry Ecology from UCAD Dakar (2010–2012).
THIOYE leads projects like MYCOAGRA (2017/2020), promoting mycorrhizal-friendly agronomic practices, and PROVEG (2023), evaluating protein-rich minor crops in Normandy. He collaborates with institutions such as CIRAD Montpellier, Senegal's ISRA, and local schools to integrate agroecological education and research.
His research emphasizes sustainable soil management, prebiotic impacts on microbial communities, and agroecological solutions for urban and rural farming. Key themes include carbon sequestration, soil health diagnostics, and the role of mycorrhizae in crop resilience. Recent studies explore prebiotic applications in Zea mays and Ziziphus mauritiana systems, as well as urban soil rehabilitation in industrialized regions.
Scientific partnerships span Senegal, France, and international networks, fostering applied research in agroecology and plant-microbe interactions. His pedagogical activities include training on mycorrhizal biology and ecological indicators in Rouen's engineering programs.
