Babacar Mbaye DIOP

Babacar Mbaye DIOP is a Lecturer in Philosophy at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD) in Dakar since 2009, and also teaches at ISAC (UCAD). He holds a PhD from the University of Rouen (2008), specializing in African art aesthetics. His research focuses on African art theory, Negritude philosophy, and cultural globalization. DIOP is affiliated with ERIAC (Interdisciplinary Research Team on Cultural Areas) at the University of Rouen and has served as Director of the Dakar Biennale of Contemporary African Art.

His work critically examines colonial art discourses, African aesthetics, and cultural hybridity. Recent publications include analyses of Senegalese art reception, Senghor’s rhythmic theory, and the symbolism of Diola masks. DIOP actively contributes to international conferences on African art and globalization, and his editorial projects promote interdisciplinary cultural studies.
