BAHADIR DEMİR is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Gaziantep University, where he has served since 2022. He also held roles as Doctor Lecturer (2020-2022) and Research Assistant (2011-2015) at the same institution, focusing on the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Mental Health and Diseases. Dr. Demir holds a medical license from Firat University (2004-2010) and specialized in Psychiatry at Gaziantep University (2011-2015).
His research spans Psychiatry, Psychopharmacology, and Substance Abuse, with a focus on Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Neuropsychiatric Disorders, and the Impact of Pandemics on Mental Health. He has published 61 scientific articles and contributed to 5 book chapters, including works on Mental Disorders in Immigrant Students (Paradigma Academy, 2024) and Neuropsychiatric Disorders in Ventilator Management (Springer, 2023).
Dr. Demir has led 5 national research projects, such as Investigation of Sestrin-2 in Major Depressive Disorder and Neuropsychiatric Effects of Inflammation. He has supervised 6 theses, including studies on Beclin-1 Levels in Schizophrenia and Circadian Rhythm in Bipolar Disorder. His work appears in journals like Brain and Behavior, Current Psychology, and Psychiatrisa Danubina, with a focus on Biomarkers, Neuroimaging, and Clinical Interventions.
He has participated in numerous international and national conferences, presenting on topics such as LGBTQI+ Healthcare, Neurological Complications in Addiction, and Pandemic-Related Mental Health. Dr. Demir’s academic contributions also include roles as a reviewer for journals like SSCI and SCI-Expanded and certifications in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy).
