B. Hilbig

B. Hilbig is a Full Professor of Psychology and head of the exPer-lab at the Department of Psychology, RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau. His research focuses on judgment and decision making, personality psychology, and methodology. He holds a Diploma (MA) from the University of Bonn and a PhD from the University of Mannheim. His work bridges cognitive, social, and personality psychology, with interests in ethical behavior, dark personality traits, and environmental/political attitudes.

Key research areas include the Dark Factor of Personality, Honesty-Humility, and decision-making under risk. He has published extensively on topics like dishonest behavior, pro-environmentalism, and the interplay between personality and social preferences. Recent articles (2025) explore links between personality and criminal behavior, moral character assessment, and cross-cultural differences in dark traits.

His awards include multiple Open Science Awards, the DGOF Best Paper Award, and the Psychonomic Society’s Best Article Award.
