Aziz Durrani

Aziz Durrani serves as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise within the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He concurrently holds the position of Team Lead and Senior Technical Assistance Specialist at the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), where he delivers capacity development programs to central banks and ministries of finance across the ASEAN region plus China, Japan, and South Korea. His extensive career spans international banking, regulatory policy formulation, and climate risk advisory.

His academic credentials include:

• Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Nottingham
• Master of Science in Computing for Industry from Imperial College London

Durrani's research centers on climate and nature-related financial systemic risks. He specializes in developing regulatory frameworks for central banks, designing climate scenario analysis methodologies, stress testing protocols for risk-weighted assets, and implementing green finance policies. His work bridges theoretical climate risk modeling with practical regulatory implementation challenges faced by financial institutions globally.

As an active contributor to the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) Taskforce on Capacity Development, Durrani co-leads the sub-group developing the Climate Risk assessment guide and training curriculum for central banks. His technical assistance team at AMRO executes capacity-building initiatives across Asian financial regulatory institutions.
